STATEMENT REGARDING CEDAR STREET

Please disregard any private signs in the vicinity of Cedar Street indicating that the street is (or will be) closed.  This matter was recently in litigation. The court recently ruled that Cedar Street is a public way and therefore will remain open for public travel.  Anyone having questions or concerns regarding this matter should contact the Board of Selectmen’s Office.  Thank you.

MUNICIPAL BUILDING FIRE ALARM UPGRADE

The Town of Douglas is seeking Qualifications submittals from Designers for the upgrade of the Municipal Building Fire Alarm Detection System.  Interested Parties may download the Request for Qualifications Package by registering at the following Link: http://www.tinyurl.com/DouglasFire.  All interested parties may choose to attend an informational briefing session at the Douglas Municipal Center, Douglas, MA scheduled for 12:00 PM on February 21, 2018. This meeting is not required to submit a proposal.  Submittals of Qualifications must be made to the Board of Selectmen Office, 29 Depot Street, Douglas, MA  01516 on or before March 1, 2018 at noon in order to be considered.

WATER DEPARTMENT - METER READING

The Water Department will be meter reading the month of February.

PROGRAM EXCELLENCE AWARD

MAIN STREET FLAG FUND

The Main Street Flag fund is used to purchase United States flags for Douglas Main Street from Memorial Day through Veteran’s Day.
Check donations can be made to “Main Street Flag Fund”, and mailed to the Selectmen’s Office, 29 Depot Street, Douglas, MA 01516.

All supporters names will be listed in the Town’s Annual Report.

MA COMMUNITY ELECTRICITY AGGREGATION PROGRAM - 2017 UPDATE

The original 2-year supply contact has been renewed for a 3-year term with Public Power. The new electric rate is fixed at $0.10122 per kilowatt hour (kWh) from January 2018 to January 2021. This compares favorably with the Basic Service rate for National Grid from November 1, 2017 to April 30, 2018 which will be $0.12673 per kWh.  Click here for complete updated information, and here for Massachusetts Electricity Aggregation Program Update Video.
